Peter K. O’Connell is an American non-union voice actor, live announcer, emcee and broadcaster. Based in Raleigh, North Carolina, O’Connell has worked professionally in broadcasting, voiceover and audio production since 1982.

Teaching and The Voiceover Workshop

O’Connell is the author of The Voice Over Entrance Exam (2009), a guide created for people considering a career in professional voiceover.

O’Connell has also served as a guest speaker on voiceover at the University of Dayton, Buffalo State University, The Voice Over Exchange, and Actors Training Ground at Theatre Raleigh Arts Center on multiple occasions. His presentations have drawn on his professional experience in voice acting, the business of voiceover as well as broadcasting.

The Voiceover Workshop - voiceover training with Peter K. O'ConnellO’Connell also created and conducts The Voiceover Workshop, a one-on-one voiceover learning program for new and experienced voice talents. Rather than following a fixed syllabus, each workshop is customized to the participant’s individual goals and interests. Topics may include script interpretation, commercial and narration performance, character voices, studio performance, demo analysis, recording technology, voiceover marketing, sales and the business of working as a professional voice talent.

Drawing on his experience as a working voice actor and voiceover business owner, O’Connell describes his role in The Voiceover Workshop as a “voiceover consigliere,” counseling participants on the performance, business, marketing and technical aspects of developing and maintaining a professional voiceover career.
